NEED A PROGRAM?

Terry offers a variety of programs, with a fee structure

that depends on the size and resources of the

organization and the size of the program he's being

asked to present.. Terry is an agent with Hartline

Literary and is willing to schedule appointments in

conjunction with a meeting or conference.

Terry interfaces closely with attendees, usually

mixing and matching from his available topics to

Hey, let me tell you that Terry Burns is one heckuva speaker--he's a regular Will Rogers, ole country boy routine that really goes over with him talking about inspirational western writing. He is great and bowled them over in Branson this weekend . He really got high marks. Hats off to you pard and thanks

best maximize meeting the specific interests of the

group no matter how the program is billed. His rapid

pace delivery and subtle West Texas humor makes

it fun and interesting.

quotes and blurbs is below. The picture is Terry

WRITING PROGRAMS

THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY VS THE ECONOMY

The publishing industry is going through more change today due to the economy

than any time in recent history. Terry talked with Editors, agents, and publishing

industry sources and pulled together a good update on how today’s economy is

impacting the industry . . . and writers.

Agent Q & A

The most popular session at most conferences are the agent and

editor panels. If participants are not available Terry will do a Q & A session

honestly answering the attendee questions to the best of his ability, not

only drawing on his own knowledge and experience, but on that drawn

from hearing the responses from over 100 such conferences and such

sessions

Making a living writing

Very few people make a living writing books. Those who do make their living

writing full time usually supplement book writing with free-lance writing, articles

and short stories, ghost writing or work for hire, online content and a variety of

other things that combine to provide an adequate income. Terry will talk about

how to do it.

"Pitching and working with agents."

Are you ready for an agent? How do you know? How do you get one?

What are each of our agents looking for?  How to structure a proposal.

Creative Writing for Young Adults

Always wanted to write? Where do ideas come from? How do I get started? Much

Of the content in the “how to get started” program but tailored to teens.

How to get started writing fiction

Always wanted to write? Where do ideas come from? How do I get started?

How do I use the 3 act play structure to write works of fiction?

Working with the library

How and why to develop interfaces with the library. Why online research is not

the best research. What libraries can do for you as a writer and how you

can help them in return.

"Using Fiction to Spread God's Word" – 21st century parables

Are you one of those who don't read Christian fiction because it's . . . well . . . fiction?

Jesus used fiction to make some of his most important points because people could

easily relate to them, they're called parables. Terry talks about using fiction in order to

spread God's word and about the difference between writing for the Christian market

and writing in hopes of reaching an unbeliever.

"Too shy to pitch and promote?"

Believe it or not, Terry is very shy and introverted, but has learned how to

overcome it and present an exciting and fast-moving program. Lots of writers

are drawn to writing because they have trouble expressing themselves verbally.

Many consciously or unconsciously sabotage their own publishing efforts because

they fear they will have to do these things if they are successful. Terry shows

how to develop a public persona and hide behind it.
